Tired

January 18, 2008 at 11:52 pm

I’ve surfed 8 days in a row, ending Wednesday. The winter consistency finally arrived. Not a day went by without head high waves and I’m exhausted. My whole body feels like I’ve been through a car accident. My arms and legs hurt, I get constant headaches and my digestive system is off. It’s really a good thing the last two days were flat because I needed the break. The surf comes in “waves” though… the next week straight is not supposed to pick up much. “Bummer”

Surfing Update

Went out last friday by the roller coaster. It was totally closed out, but fun for the hour to surf during the sunset. The thunderhead clouds painted the sky in every direction and I was a little scared they might start throwing lightning bolts at me. Luckily there was no activity during my session.

Today after work I raced over to PB Pier to catch the remaining surf of the day. It was great! A little crowded, but there was enough to go around. The ocean glassed over before I got there, so I was pleasantly surprised by what was supposed to be completely-blown-out surf.

Scripps and Tourmaline

Friday we surfed at Scripps Pier until sunset. Seriously, friday was one of the better days I’ve had in a while. The set waves were typically around shoulder high, the water was clear and I was getting a ton of waves. Great day… I can’t wait to surf there again.

Saturday, we paddled out at Tourmaline, and tried to surf the soft, longboardywaves. The bigger set waves were great, but the rest were garbage. We walked south where it was a little faster, but the negative tide was just ruining everything. Still fun though, we were out for about three hours.

I haven't surfed outside the county in a while, but the surf here in San Diego has been pretty fun lately.  The water averages about 70 degrees well into the evening hours.  Also, a friend of mine from college moved down here (and started working for us), so we've been surfing after work a few days each week.  A nice shoulder to head high swell arrived wednesday night, so went to PB point and got some nice open lefts and rights both wed. and yesterday.

Tomorrow and Sunday we're going out again.  I wish the surf was always this fun.

PB Surprise Swell

I drove out to PB last night expecting some ankle high waves, but it was actually shoulder to head high.  Half of PB was out, but it was so consistent that it didn't matter.  I paddled out in front of the Pacific Terrace hotel where I got a bunch of great rights.  Totally fun.
